My Story from Twisted50 vol 1: Summer Sky

My Story from Twisted’s Evil Little Sister: The French Dresser

I started writing in the 1970s with comedy sketches on Television & Radio. Short stories, articles and photography have been seen in Calenders, Newspapers & Magazines from Ireland to Australia. Gained superb reviews from readers and also various websites. Many of my short stories have won the much coveted ‘Cherry Award’ on the highly respected literary website ABC Tales. Two short stories from my book, ‘The Man Who Couldn’t Stay Dead’ have been re-written as screenplays, one of which has been compared to Dickens, Narnia and The Snowman by Industrial Scripts.

I also write songs and was once signed to Warner Chappell. Songs on Spotify, Apple, Amazon and other internet platforms. I share album credits with Paul McCartney on an album released in the USA by a British Chart group. A member of the RBSA. (Royal Birmingham Society Of Artists.) where my work has been exhibited.

In previous incarnations I’ve worked as a photographer, carpenter and a Theatre Stage Manager. (Where I was taught to play the piano by Victor Borge, amongst others.) I’ve climbed mountains for Alzheimers Research and part of the profits from my writing has also been donated.

Well done to all the writers and people behind the scenes who’ve helped to put together the latest Twisted 50.

These books are a great incentive for procrastinating writers, or is that just me?  to get our act together and sit down and write for a specific project.

Even for the writers who weren’t lucky enough to get into the finished book, it will still have been excellent practice and discipline to ‘push the envelope’ and stretch those writing muscles.

I Blame The Beano by John Read

Some of my happiest childhood memories are of Saturday mornings sprawled across the living room carpet surrounded by comics and magazines. Saturday is when my mom came home from shopping which always included comics for me and my three sisters.

Summer Sky by John Read

In the heat of the revolution, not only the Royals lost their heads. Many people who were seen as part of the ‘establishment’ were also despatched by the guillotine. One of these unfortunates was a doctor. A very dedicated doctor as it transpired. A guard was assigned to accompany the condemned man to his fate.
