My Story from Twisted50 vol 2: Distant Percussion
The urge to write has followed me throughout my life. I had notebooks full of poetry as a kid and wrote stories mostly based on my love of Lord of the Rings – though not quite on its scale!
As I got older, I honed that love of writing through a creative writing module as part of my English degree, winning a place on a screenwriting development lab and a mentor-ship with a screenwriting agent. By profession, I am a filmmaker and run a small independent production company with my husband. However, writing is my real joy and I have written short films and scripts for work we have produced. Like most writers, I also have several (hundred) unfinished novels filed away.
I put writing on hold to have my son three years ago and now that he is bigger, I have started writing again and Distant Percussion is the result. I like to write about the real world, but with elements of magic or ‘strangeness’ to them, so this particular competition was right up my alley and I’m so honored to be a part of Twisted 50 vol 2.
